CLANDESTINO is a Brighton based ensemble who blend the deep folkloric power of flamenco with the sophistication of contemporary jazz and the rich heritage of the middle East to create a vibrant 21st century vision that recognises no barriers. Their approach is based on the arrangements of a genre-crossing range of material by guitarists Pete Lorenz & Fergusito P. and features the talents of lead singer, El Fernan de Triana, who brings with him the authentic voice of flamenco from the heartlands of Andalusia. Reviewing in The Guardian for his part in Sara Bara’s production “Voces, Suite Flamenca”, Judith Mackrell writes - “he couches the rasping poetry of flamenco in a voice of extraordinary vibrating sweetness.”
Together with the incisive footwork of flamenco dancer, Wafa Kahn, the lilting Persian influenced melodies of violinist Sara Khoroosi, and backed by percussionist Sudhi, CLANDESTINO captivate audiences wherever they play. Guest jazz vocalist, Rachel Myer and vocal harmony trio Bel Mousai will be joining them for this performance.
