Changes to Traffic Management in Glynde Village

For 2025, we are planning some changes to how we manage the safety of pedestrians walking though the village. Over the last year, we have been reviewing our plans with our traffic management and crowd management teams and for the additional safety of event attendees walking to the station, we intend to implement a new closure of the southbound lane of Lacys Hill during peak event exit times. The closure will be in place from its junction with Ranscombe Lane to its junction with Mill Lane, diverting southbound traffic right down Ranscombe Lane. To prohibit two-way traffic whilst this diversion is in place, Ranscombe Lane will be closed eastbound from the A27. The purpose of this closure is to further reduce traffic and facilitate a safer crossing point for at the bridge over Glynde Reach.

The exact timings of closure may vary depending on daily timings, however it is expected to be in place 20:00-00:00 on Friday 4th July, Saturday 5th July and Sunday 6th July and 10:00-14:00 on Monday 7th July. The one-way closure has been designed to minimise the impact on residents and to continue to reduce non-residential traffic in the village. The traffic team will work on the ground to reduce inconvenience to residents as far as possible.

Whilst the closure is in place, we ask that residents of Glynde kindly observe the following directions:

  • Residents who wish to travel south from Glynde to the A27 should travel via Ranscombe Lane (Diagram 1)
  • Access to residences south of the closure will be permitted
  • The recommended route to the village for residents from the A27 will be via Mill Lane, there will be no entry permitted eastbound along Ranscombe Lane from the A27 (Diagram 2).
  • ‘No Entry to Love Supreme’ signage remains in place at the A27 junctions with Lacys Hill and Mill Lane to deter all traffic except residents.

Festival buses will be permitted access through the road closure at the junction of Ranscombe Lane to reach the station when it is safe to do so.
